The importance of a good smile permeates throughout the lives of most people. In fact, 99.7 percent of adults believe so within the social atmosphere, according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. More importantly so, 74 percent think it goes even further by hurting them professionally whether it is a job interview or their standing in the workplace, according to the same American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
What can you do to help your smile? First and foremost, get a new toothbrush. Three out of four people do not even realize how often their toothbrush should be replaced. Now that you have bought a new toothbrush, or a few to replace down the road, it is time to brush! Twice a day, at least, according to the American Dental Association. For parents, it is good if your children have a good habit of brushing their teeth, however, you should continue to spot them until they are at least 10 or 11.
The next step to a healthier smile is to start adding a few more dental visits to your schedule. You might not realize it but you could have an untreated cavity, like 20 percent of adults do in the United States, or a serious form of periodontal disease like 47.2 percent of adults 30 and older do. Even adding a single dental appointment to your schedule, you will have done more than the 100 million people that skip the dentist every year in the United States. There are certainly plenty of dentists to go around, 146,800 to be specific, in the United States since 2012.
With a few dental appointments under your belt, what can you expect? There are various methods to fixing teeth to standards that you are looking for. Like crowns, bridges, fillings, braces and even implants. Dental implants have come a long way with a success rate currently peaking at 98 percent! You can even whiten your teeth, with 82.5 percent of patients seeing a huge difference. Take a before and after photo to see for yourself!
Once you have had some work done, it is worth investing in a mouth guard. What is a mouth guard? They aren’t just for sports. If you grind your teeth, you should be worried about causing damage to new, or even current, teeth; It would be a shame to have tons of work done only for you to sink more money into fixing your teeth; a mouth guard will give you the protection when you sleep.
